Plywood is a sheet material manufactured from thin layers or “ Plies “ of wood veneer that are glued together with adjacent layers having their wood grains rotated up to 90 degrees to one another. It is an engineered wood from the family of manufactured boards which include medium–density fibre board ( MDF) and particle board (chipboard). Plywood is a widely used wood material that can be used like solid wood. It can even be used on many occasions where solid wood fails to work as expected.
Here are some common use of Plywood
Furniture
Plywood is the main material for furniture such as cabinets and wardrobes. It is the main material for most available wooden furniture, such as sofas, dressers and wooden doors. Plywood is a cheaper option compared to solid wood materials. At the same price, plywood is stronger than solid wood components.
Wood Flooring
The laminate floors use marine plywood as a floor substrate. Marine plywood is more stable in size than solid wood boards. Floors made of plywood are easier to install and cheaper than solid wood flooring, which requires a more expensive floor keel to fit on the ground.
Formwork
Film Faced plywood is part of the formwork system. It provides support for concrete and is poured into slabs or walls. Film faced plywood is widely used in high-rise building frame structures. There are also steel or aluminum templates, but plywood is now more acceptable in the business. Because the wood formwork is lighter than the steel formwork.
Laminated veneer lumber (LVL) is actually a construction material similar to plywood, which is an engineered wood product that uses multiple layers of thin wood assembled with adhesives. The lvl beam provides support for the film coated plywood in the formwork.
Roof, walls, bottom floor
Many houses are built with plywood, osb, and lvl. The house panels are of structural grade to ensure that they can remain permanently in the structure.
Structural plywood is the best performing plywood on the market. It has wbp phenolic binders that can permanently adhere to single plates. Tenon and grooted plywood are good materials for underfloor and floor liners.
Packing material
Plywood is widely used as a packaging material for commercial goods. The transport of machinery and many other things depended heavily on plywood boxes. Plywood boxes are made of plywood, lvl wood, solid wood, and fasteners. The benefit of using plywood boxes to export goods is that no fumigation is required. Plywood also plays an important role in daily life and industry.
