Why Choose Our Phenolic Faced Plywood?

Superior Wear & Abrasion Resistance: The phenolic surface is incredibly tough, resisting scratches, impacts, and heavy traffic far better than standard plywood or MDF.

Exceptional Moisture & Weather Resistance: Impervious to water absorption and swelling. Ideal for humid environments, exterior applications (when properly sealed at edges), and wet processes. Resists rot and fungal decay.

Chemical & Stain Resistance: Highly resistant to oils, solvents, mild acids, alkalis, and common industrial chemicals. Easy to clean and disinfect.

Smooth, Non-Porous & Hygienic: Provides an easy-to-clean, non-absorbent surface perfect for food processing, laboratories, healthcare, and cleanrooms.

High Load-Bearing Capacity: The robust plywood core provides excellent structural strength and stability.

Anti-Slip Options Available: Choose from standard smooth finishes or specially textured anti-slip surfaces (Film Faced Anti-Slip Plywood) for enhanced safety.

Reusable & Long-Lasting: Offers outstanding value through multiple reuses in applications like concrete formwork, significantly reducing replacement costs.

Structure

Film faced plywood is structural plywood coated with a phenolic or melamine resin film on one or both sides.

Surface: Phenolic film (brown/black) or melamine (light).

Core: Multi-layered hardwood veneers with waterproof WBP glue.

Thickness: 12mm, 15mm, 18mm, 21mm (common for formwork).

Available Finishes

Smooth Gloss (SG): Standard high-gloss, easy-clean surface.

Smooth Matt (SM): Low-sheen finish, reduces glare.

Anti-Slip (AS): Textured surface for enhanced grip in wet or oily conditions (Critical for safety flooring!).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

Q: How many times can it be reused for concrete formwork?
A: With proper care (cleaning, sealing edges, avoiding excessive impact), high-quality phenolic ply can typically be reused 20-50+ times, depending on concrete type and handling.

Q: Can it be used outdoors?
A: Yes, the faces are highly weather-resistant. Crucially, the panel edges must be properly sealed (with phenolic or PU sealant) upon cutting to prevent water ingress into the core. Not recommended for permanent, unsheltered exterior structures without additional protection.

Q: How do I cut and drill it?
A: Use sharp, carbide-tipped saw blades and drill bits. The phenolic surface is very hard and will blunt standard tools quickly. Seal all cut edges immediately.

Q: Is it slippery when wet?
A: The standard smooth finish (SG/SM) can be slippery. Always specify Anti-Slip (AS) finish for flooring or walkway applications where slip resistance is a safety requirement.

Q: How do I maintain it?
A: Simple cleaning with water and mild detergent is usually sufficient. Avoid harsh abrasives that could scratch the film. Re-seal edges if damaged.
