Okoume is a lighter wood, not dissimilar from pine and beech. It has a medium level of firmness, can be dried well, and is resistant to insects but not weather. The wood can be easily processed; Okoume makes an ideal veneer wood and is also used in the furniture and plywood industries, and for the production of paper pulp and cigar boxes.

How is Okoume plywood?

The surface is moist, natural, eco-friendly, moisture-proof, corrosion-resistant, high strength, tough, and has a strong nail grip. With an air-dry density of 660 kg/m³ or 0.48 kg/cm³, it has moderate bending strength and good vapor bending performance. After deep processing, the cutting surface is smooth, but it may deform or crack when dried and cut into straight pieces. Ideal for making musical instruments and high-end furniture.
